Welcome to the final day of CES 2023.

Over the last four days, we've enjoyed engaging with the thousands of visitors to the Amazon Experience Area, and showcasing how  technology developed by Amazon and our partners helps bring delight to every facet of their day to day lives.

Ring expands its product line with dual-facing Car Cam

At CES 2023, Ring showcased its expanded  product offerings with the Ring Car Cam which is available for pre-order. Ring Car Cam extends Ring security from your home to your vehicle with a dual-facing camera for interior and exterior recording, and smart sensors to detect certain events around and inside your vehicle, whether it’s parked or on the go. Ring also announced the Ring Peephole Cam, a video doorbell that can be easily installed over an existing door peephole in an apartment or rental property. With a 1080p HD camera, night vision, Two-Way Talk, and Knock and Motion Detection, Peephole Cam is perfect for renters.

Alexa, let's make a story

Attendees to the kids playroom section of the Amazon Experience Area learned about a new Alexa experience that receives customer prompts and uses AI to generate short children’s stories, complete with illustrations and background music.

The experience is slated for general release later this year. It allows children to choose themes for their stories, such as “underwater” or “enchanted forest”; protagonists, such as pirate or mermaid; colors, which will serve as visual signatures for the illustrations; and adjectives, such as “silly” or “mysterious”.

From the prompts, an AI engine generates an original five-scene story. For each scene, it also composes an illustration (often animated) and background music, and it selects appropriate sound effects. Since the experience depends heavily on AI models, it can repeatedly generate different stories from the same set of prompts.

Check out the mobility of the future

While you are at CES, check out Zoox at booth 3574 in the West Hall. Stop by to see our purpose-built robotaxi and learn more about how we’re reimagining the future of mobility-as-a-service.

Enabling electrification for all

According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the decisions individuals make in our homes - from what appliances we have in our home, how we power our home, to what car we drive - contributes to 42% of total US greenhouse emissions. According to non-profit Rewiring America, making greener choices when it comes to the home we live in and the cars we drive will be critical to combating climate change.

Combating climate change might not be at the top of everyone’s priorities – but even so, the 2022 Inflation and Reduction Act offers rebates for electric vehicles, heat pump water heaters and dryers, electric stoves, including induction ranges.

Visit the Amazon Experience Area at Venetian Ballrooms G-H to learn more about how Alexa Fund portfolio company Span is enabling electrification for all. Also read this article on developer.amazon.com to learn more about the future of electrification.

"The possibilities opened up by the Alexa Custom Assistant were incredibly interesting to Disney."

Stephen Flynn, Director of Digital Experiences at Disney

Hey Disney!”: Amazon and Disney previously announced that they are teaming up to create Hey Disney!, an entirely new kind of voice assistant that will work alongside Alexa on supported Echo devices at home and in select Walt Disney World Resort hotel rooms. For the first time in public, Amazon is demoing Hey Disney!’s capabilities during CES, showcasing to attendees the magic behind this highly anticipated assistant.

In-resort, the Hey Disney! magical companion is making the guest experience even more seamless, allowing them to do things like request more blankets or towels, or ask for park & transportation hours, resort amenities, and more. Additionally, this magical voice AI will provide customers access to hundreds of natural utterances featuring more than 20 iconic Disney’s characters both in-resort and at home.

We spoke to Stephen Flynn, Director of Digital Experiences at Disney, about why the company decided to pursue a voice integration with Alexa.

“Voice technology is important to our technology portfolio,” Flynn said. “Over the years, we have seen an increase in the number of people asking for voice services at our resorts, and in their homes. When we researched the space, it was apparent that Alexa was the clear voice AI leader. What’s more, the possibilities opened up by the Alexa Custom Assistant were incredibly interesting to us.”

More deliciousness in the kitchen

At CES 2023, we are excited to showcase the work of the incredibly innovative Alexa Fund protfolio company Rise Gardens.

Rise Gardens offers modular indoor gardening systems in various sizes, including the small Personal Rise Garden, which can fit on a countertop, and the larger family garden sizes, each of which resembles a bookcase with plants growing on up to three shelves. The startup’s  indoor gardening systems are hydroponic, which means that instead of relying on soil, customers can provide water and nutrients to plants directly and as needed.

More productivity (and coffee) for your home office

With Alexa, you can work, watch, meet and do lots more with smart products from our partners.  And you can brew your favorite cup of coffeee, just the way you like it, using nothing more than just your voice.

It's great to join you on the second day of CES. Today, we are excited to continue to bring you updates on how Amazon and our partners are creating ambient experiences that bring delight to every facet of people's lives at home, at work, and on the go.

To kick things off, let's take you through a walkthrough of the Amazon Experience Area with Emerson Sklar, Principal Evangelist, Alexa Enterprise.

LG Pro:Centric Smart TV: More convenience for you while on the go

The LG commerical/smart TV enables a customized Alexa-enabled experience for hotel guests. Hotel operators can customize the guest room TV content and experience, including enabling guests to learn about available amenities, request services, complete checkout upon departure and more.

For example, a guest could get the location and hours of operation for a nearby bar -- always a handy piece of information to have while on vacation.

Hotel operators can enable experiences such as these for their guests through solutions offered by Alexa Smart Properties for hospitality. Services include provides device fleet management to build Alexa capabilities at scale.

Because interoperability Matters

The Eve Smart Plug is a great example of how Amazon is working along with our partners to enable the smart home where all devices and servies work seamlessly alongside each other.

The Eve Smart Plug allows customers to turn lights and appliances on and off using voice assitants like Alexa and Siri, the app or a built-in button. app, Siri or built-in button. Products like the Eve Smart Plug are an example of our focus to make Alexa compatible with as many smart home devices as possible—regardless of the protocols on which they’re built.

Last month, we completed the first phase of our Matter rollout. Today, tens of millions of Alexa customers across the globe have more ways to connect their devices with the availability of Matter over WiFi spanning Plugs, Switches, Bulbs, supported on 17 different Echo devices. Beginning this spring, we'll continue our Matter journey with support for Matter over Thread, iOS setup, and additional device types (thermostats, blinds, and sensors). This will include Matter support on additional Echo and eero devices and Thread border router support on the Echo (4th Gen), making it one of our most versatile devices supporting WiFi, Zigbee, Bluetooth Low Energy Mesh, Matter over WiFi, and Matter over Thread.

On the road again: But this time, stay entertained, informed, connected and safe with Alexa

We are showcasing the Grand Wagoneer with Alexa and Fire TV at the Amazon Experience Area.

The experience highlights how automakers can build with Alexa that allow customers to carry the comnforts of the home on the road.

With Alexa Built-in, you can access your songs, podcasts, get the weather, get directions and do such much more all while keeping your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.  What's more, Alexa connects to your smart home, and can do things like check to make sure your house doors are locked as soon as it senses you drive away in your car. Alexa can also adjust the thermostat to the right temperature as you near your home. Alexa can do all this and more -- even without you having to ask.

With Fire TV Built-in, passengers in the rear seat can enjoy viewing millions of shows on their favorite streaming service, all while on the road.

With the magic of ambient intelligence, you can take the comforts of home on to the road, and go from zero to delightful in a matter of mere seconds.

More magic in your childrens' playrooms

See the magic of childhood come to life in the kids’ section of the Amazon Experience Area. Watch their imaginations light up as they interact with the Echo Show 5 Kids. Discover how kids can ask Alexa to play music, read a bedtime story, get help with their homework, turn off lights and more. And it’s easier than ever to make sure your kids are healthy: the Levoit air purifier will help to ensure the air is always fresh, which is especially helpful when the windows are accidentally left open during allergy season.

The Nanoleaf shapes and Yeelight cube sync to music that’s already playing, adding tons of joy to playtime. Say Hello to Moxie, the revolutionary new robot companion for children designed to help promote social, emotional and cognitive development through play-based learning. With Create with Alexa, parents and children can co-create stories with customized animated characters. Your kids can specify what they like — for example, astronauts which are never out of fashion — and Alexa crafts an interesting story and fun music to make story time vivid, colorful and more magical for the little ones in your loves. When it’s bed time, parents can help them transition into a world of sweet dreams by turning off the playroom lights with Leedarson smart bulbs or their friendly playtable lamp connected to the Eve Smart Plug with just their voice.

The Amazon Devices and Services exhibit at the Amazon Experience Area will showcase how ambient intelligence opens up more possibilities for people at home, at work and on the go. This is technology built for the real world, creating magical experiences for every facet of your day-to-day lives.

A simple definition of ambient intelligence

Simply put, ambient intelligence is technology that steps in automatically when you need it and steps into the background when you don’t. It is incredibly intuitive so that an eighty-year-old or a teenager can use the technology easily.

#moreconnection for unserved and underserved communities

Project Kuiper takes center stage at the Amazon Experience Area.

Amazon is enabling more connection for people in unserved and underserved communities with the low earth orbit satellite system Project Kuiper. Project Kuiper will enable fast broadband through a constellation of 3,236 low Earth orbit satellites.
