As part of our commitment to the success of the Alexa developer community, we are announcing the Alexa Skill Developer Accelerator Program. This new program will help skill developers increase the discoverability of their skills, grow engagement with customers, and make more money through new and updated developer benefits.

As part of the Alexa Skill Developer Accelerator Program, we are increasing revenue share for Alexa Skill developers that earn less than $1 million in revenue to 80/20, starting in Q2 2022. This increase is based on the previous calendar year aggregate revenue from In-Skill Purchasing, subscriptions and Paid Skill purchases across a developer’s Skills. In addition to increasing the portion of revenue share paid to developers that earn less than $1 million in revenue, next year we'll be rolling out new benefits to help developers generate traffic and increase skill visibility. These benefits could be worth up to an additional 10 percent of a developer’s potential revenue under the program — bringing the total potential program benefits for developers that earn less than $1 million up to 90 percent.

When the Alexa Skill Developer Accelerator Program launches, developers will be able to take advantage of benefits like new incentive programs, personalized feedback to optimize their skill experience with best practices for user experience and customer satisfaction, help identifying monetization opportunities, and more.

The Alexa Skill Developer Accelerator Program is one of many projects we are undertaking to grow and support the developer community across Amazon. Earlier this year, we announced Paid Skills to enable customers to pay up front up to access a skill experience, announced an international expansion of In-Skill Purchasing to India and Canada, introduced Alexa Shopping Actions to enable developers to sell products from Amazon.com within their skill, and removed usage limits on Alexa Hosted Skills — reducing the cost of hosting a skill to $0 for nearly all participating Alexa skills.

We believe these benefits will help developers of all sizes continue to find success with Alexa, as we continue to make investments in our global developer community to spur even more innovation, and increase selection of skill experiences for our shared customers. We look forward to sharing more implementation details next year.

Thank you for building with us. We can’t wait to see what you build next.
