Last month, we announced that Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Plus and Alexa were coming to India. Today we’re excited to announce that the web-based simulator Echosim.io is now available for developers building skills using the English (IN) language model.
Echosim.io by iQuarius Media lives in your browser so anyone, anywhere can access it and test their Alexa skills. This means you don’t need an Alexa-enabled device to test your skills.
Echosim.io was created by combining the Alexa Voice Service (AVS) and JavaScript animations. AVS, available in India starting today, enables you to build and launch products with Alexa. With the latest AVS integration on Echosim.io, developers worldwide can use Echosim.io to experience Alexa in (US), English (UK), English (IN), and German.
To test your skill, visit Echosim.io, select the language you’d like to use, and log in with your Amazon developer account. Then click and hold the microphone button and speak your skill’s invocation phrase in the appropriate language. If you don’t yet have a skill, you can experience Echosim.io by logging in with your Amazon account. For example, in English, you might say, “Alexa, what’s the weather today?” Then, when you let go of the button, Echosim.io will process and respond to your voice request. Give it a try.
