About the APIs

To learn more about each API, see the following sections.

Amazon Fling

The Amazon Fling SDK is a cross-platform toolkit that enables mobile developers to build rich multi-screen experiences with Amazon Fire TV. The SDK allows sending video, audio and images from iOS, Android or Fire OS mobile apps to Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. With our SDK, you can "fling" media content to Amazon Fire TV and leverage two-way communication between Amazon Fire TV and mobile apps to create engaging second screen experiences.

In-App Purchasing

The In-App Purchasing (IAP) API makes it easy for you to offer digital content and subscriptions for purchase within your app, such as in-game currency, expansion packs, upgrades, magazine issues, consumables, and more. You can quickly be up and running, ready to give millions of Amazon customers the ability to purchase engaging digital content using Amazon 1-Click settings.

In-App Purchasing handles the details of purchase flow, payment processing, receipts, and rights management for the purchasable content. With unique receipt identifiers, the IAP API enables you to easily ensure that customers receive purchased in-app items quickly, as well as track transactions and fulfillment.

Amazon Input SDK

With the Amazon Input SDK for Unity, you can show your users help dialogs that explain how to use your app with a keyboard and mouse. If your app targets Windows 11 devices, this feature provides a pleasant and useful experience to users who don't typically interact with your app using a keyboard and mouse.

Amazon WebView API

By targeting the Fire OS platform, Cordova developers can create hybrid web apps that take advantage of the advanced web engine integrated into Fire devices.

Amazon WebView API (AWV) is a Chromium-derived web runtime exclusive to Fire OS. A drop-in replacement for the WebView that comes with Android devices, AWV makes it possible to create better performing and more powerful hybrid web apps by providing support for a faster JavaScript engine (V8), remote debugging, and hardware optimizations for Fire devices including an accelerated 2D Canvas, and access to HTML5 features not supported by Android’s built in WebView such as: CSS Calc, Form Validation, getUserMedia, IndexedDB, Web Workers, WebSockets and WebGL. Amazon Fire TV, including both the Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, support HTML5 web apps using the Amazon WebView.

For more information about the Amazon WebView API, see HTML5 Hybrid Apps, or go to the official Cordova Android Platform Guide.
