Announcing the new Alexa Champions for 2023

As the Alexa Developer Community Manager I’m pleased to announce a new cohort of Alexa Champions for 2023!

These developers, thought leaders, entrepreneurs and designers have demonstrated a true passion for innovation with Alexa. Their dedication to the craft is evident in the solutions they’ve created and developed: from stunning APL visuals to fun games, location-based experiences, next generation smart properties experiences, and more. 

Our 2023 cohort of Alexa Champions are a diverse group of innovators with a global reach, responsible for building over 700 successful Alexa skills with hundreds of thousands of users. Alexa Champions do more than build skills — they also provide helpful comments in our Community Slack helping other developers, participate actively in our weekly online Office Hours, and give presentations worldwide about the future of voice and ambient computing. 

Below are the new Alexa Champions for 2023:

  • John Campbell in London, England is the Managing Director of Rabbit & Pork, an Alexa Smart Properties Solution Provider, and creator on Memories, a skill for Alexa’s Aging and Engaging hackathon.

  • Hugo Catchpole, London, England, is the owner of HUGO.FM specializing in some of the most successful and profitable Alexa entertainment and humor skills including Mini Games and the award-winning Story World.

  • Tapan Chauhan, in India, is CEO of Smart Voice Studio, full time skills developer in the healthcare space.

  • Ethel Emmelaine González Sánchez, from Mexico City, Mexico, is an Ambassador to Women in Voice Mexico. She also serves as a mentor and organizer of “Reto Alexa Skill, Mujeres en Tecnología.”

  • Clara Jiménez Recio, from Madrid, Spain, is a creator of seven skills including Papá Noel, one of the most popular skills in Spain, and co-organizer of Hackathon Alexa: Impacto Social.

  • John Kelvie, from Orlando FL, is the Co-founder and CEO of Bespoken, the leading testing, training and monitoring platform for Alexa, IVR and chatbots. 

  • David Low, from Dundee Scotland, is the Managing Director of Waracle Studios and a former member of Alexa’s Solutions Architecture team with a depth of technical knowledge.

  • Giorgio Magrin, founder of NAVOO, an Alexa Smart Properties vendor in Italy specializing in smart properties hospitality and senior living solutions, and creator of skills such as Domanda del giorno in Italy and Nomi, Cose, Città called Just Words in the US.

  • Christian Mahnke in Heidelberg, Germany is CEO of EarReality, making high quality interactive storytelling voice experiences for Alexa, including the Twist Tales library of narrated stories.

  • Dominik Meissner, in Munich, Germany, is running 169 Labs, an agency doing Alexa Smart Properties in Germany. He is also co-founder of All About Voice, the largest Voice Assistant conference in the EU.

  • Paulos Mesghina, Germany, is the founder and CEO of Voiceagenten, and creator of the popular skill Das ultimative Musikquiz - 60er bis 2010er in Germany.

  • Ethan Richardson, in Bucharest, Romania, is a specialist in the Alexa Presentation Language (APL) who has developed visually rich APL experiences for Lexus, TripAdvisor, Visit Orlando, and more.

  • Rodrigo Rubini from Rio De Janerio, Brazil, is the CTO of Benext, and creator of the Colgate Kids skill helping children with their dental health.

  • Rob Stanbridge is managing director of Vocala, an award-winning Alexa voice design studio and agency in the UK, which created the official Deal or No Deal Skill among many others. 

  • Brian Tarbox from Boston, MA is the creator of the Premier League Skill and an AWS Hero. He also runs the AWS Boston Community Group discussing development, standards, promotion and business opportunities using AWS.

  • Craig Walls, from Denver CO, is an engineer with VMware who is the creator of location-based skills, notably Mouse Guests for visitors to Disney Parks.

  • Andy Whitworth, from London England, is a developer of kid-friendly skills such as Unicorn Pizza and Baby Bedtime Lullabies.
