Fire OS is the operating system that runs Amazon Fire TV and tablet devices. Fire OS is a fork of Android, so if your app runs on Android, it will most likely run on Amazon Fire devices too. Just as there are multiple Android versions, there are also multiple Fire OS versions. The latest version is Fire OS 7, which is based on Android 9 Pie (API level 28). Fire OS 6 is based on Android 7.1 (API level 25), and Fire OS 5 is based on Android 5.1 (API level 22). You can see the different versions in Identifying Fire Tablets.
Simply drag and drop your Android APK into the App Testing Service and get compatibility results in 90 seconds or less. We try to keep parity with Android development practices as much as possible, reducing any learning curve for the Amazon Appstore.
