Previously published on April 11, 2023:
Our commitment to protecting customer privacy is fundamental to our values, and a key consideration when designing our devices and services.
To further strengthen this commitment for you and your customers, we are introducing privacy labels for Amazon Appstore. Privacy labels provide your customers with a simple way to view information about how your apps handle user data and for you to tell customers what data is collected and how it is used.
Starting today, the user data privacy questionnaire is available in the Developer Console, allowing you to fill in information about your app’s data practices. We have started a gradual rollout of the questionnaire in the Developer Console, which will be completed and available to everyone by mid-April.
Here is what the privacy labels questionnaire intake looks like:
In Q4 2023, customers will start to see privacy labels across Appstore app detail pages on Fire tablets, Fire TV, Amazon.com, Amazon Appstore on Windows 11 devices, and non-Amazon Android devices.

When will these changes take effect?
All developers must comply with the privacy labels policy and complete the privacy questionnaire before November 2, 2023. For any apps with pending privacy questionnaires on November 2, we will display a message stating "Information not provided by developer" across app detail pages.
What do customers need to do in order to view the privacy labels?
No action is required from your customers. We believe all customers should be able to easily understand an app’s data privacy practices before downloading and installing the app, and our goal is to make it simple for customers to view privacy labels. Privacy labels will be displayed on all Amazon Appstore app detail pages and will be visible to customers globally.
Can I access and complete the questionnaire without going through a formal app update or app submission flow?
Yes, you can go through the “user data privacy” page available in the Developer Console to launch and update the questionnaire without going through an app update or app submission process.
What benefits do I get for providing this information?
Appstore privacy labels allow you to be more transparent with customers about what data is collected to drive higher degrees of trust for your apps and games. Privacy labels are displayed to your customers app detail pages, giving them the ability to understand how your app collects and uses their information before they download the app.
