Step 1: Log in and Add an App

Before you can submit an app, you must register for a developer account (it's free) and add an app within the Developer Console. When you create an app, you will complete general information about your app.

A. Create a Developer Account

Sign in to the Developer Console by clicking Sign In in the upper-right corner.

If you already have an account but not an Amazon developer account, sign in with your account. On the backend, the Developer Console creates the developer account using your email address, and then the two accounts are tied together and synced. You will be prompted to complete the registration profile pages in the Developer Console.

B. Add an App

After you sign in, the Developer Portal shows the Dashboard page for your account. The bottom portion of the page lists any apps that you have previously created.

  1. From the Dashboard, click the Add a New App button in the lower-right corner.
  2. Select the kind of app you want to publish:

    • Android: An Android APK
    • Mobile Web: An HTML5 web app

(You can also sell PC or Mac software through the Dev Console, but this process is not covered in this tutorial.)

  3. Click Next.

The New App Submission page appears for you to enter basic information about your app. This information will be accessible later from the "General Info" tab. You won't see the tabs until you save your app.
