Change Developer Account Ownership

If you want to change the owner of your company developer account, you can do so in the Developer Console without the need to contact the developer support team.

Change account ownership

To change the owner of the developer account, you must currently be the owner. You can only transfer ownership to another account administrator. To change ownership of your developer account, follow these steps.

  1. Sign in to the Developer Console.
  2. On the top navigation bar, select Settings.
  3. Select the User Permissions tab.
  4. Next to an administrative user, click Change ownership.
  5. To assign a new owner, select the radio button next to a user, then click Save.

The following are frequently asked questions (FAQ) about changing ownership on your developer account.

Q: I am an admin of my company developer account, can I change the account owner?
Only the current owner of the company developer account can transfer account ownership through the Developer Console.
Q: As account owner, can I transfer account ownership to a user with an analyst role on my account?
Developer account owners can transfer ownership only to other administrators in their accounts. To transfer ownership to non-admin users such as marketers or analysts, you must first assign an admin role to those users. To change user permissions, follow these steps.
  1. Sign in to the Developer Console.
  2. On the top navigation bar, select Settings.
  3. Select the User Permissions tab.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. Check the Administrator box next to the user, and click Save.

After making the user an administrator, you can transfer ownership to them.

Q: How frequently I can change ownership on my account in the Developer Console?
There is no limit to the number of times you can transfer account ownership on a developer account.
Q : My developer account owner is unavailable, how do I transfer account ownership?
Only the current owner of the developer account can use the change ownership feature in the Developer Console. If the developer account owner is inactive or unavailable, an account administrator can request a transfer of ownership by contacting developer support.
Q: How long does it take to change account ownership?
Changes to account ownership take effect immediately. After you transfer account ownership, Amazon sends a notification to the developer account and an email to the new owner to confirm the ownership change.
