Free Games With Prime (FGWP)
Game Distribution
Free Games With Prime (FGWP) is an Amazon Prime subscriber benefit which brings a wide array games to our users every month - free of charge! FGWP offers require their own assets and copy, but unlike in-game content offers, they also involve the game itself. This page will help guide you through the FGWP onboarding process.
Many FGWP titles are delivered using the Amazon Games app (AGA). This page's requirements are tailored for AGA, but may apply to titles using other distribution methods. Please ask your Prime Gaming campaign team if you have any questions.
FGWP supports PC titles on Windows 10 and later.
Distribution Methods
Amazon Games app (AGA)
FGWP offers that redeem the title to the Prime member's library in the Amazon Games app.
Account linking
FGWP offers that require a game, studio, or publisher account linked to the Prime member's Amazon account.
Codes
FGWP offers that provide a unique code for the Prime member to use to redeem their game.
Game Build Files
Your onboarding contact will provide you with a unique link where you can upload your game build files. Please follow these specifications when preparing your build:
- You will upload a ZIP file containing all the files required to build and run the game to the link that we provide you.
- Requirements for the ZIP file:
- All included files should be loose, unpackaged, and not bundled for an installer.
- Files should not include any branding from digital distribution service platforms.
- No inclusion of Steam or GOG DLLs, PDB files, or other such files.
- Files should not be covered by a Digital Rights Management (DRM) statement or any DRM software.
- Requirements for your game build:
- We should be able to copy your folder structure to a PC, double click the executable (EXE), and run the game.
- Your game build should be targeted at Windows 10 and later.
- Call out any dependencies required by the game, such as DirectX, .NET, or Visual C++ runtimes. We need to know anything that needs to be installed on a clean PC before the game runs.
- The game cannot save any files (game saves, options, etc.) to the directory from which it is running. All files should be written to the current user's AppData or Documents folders. (This is a normal requirement for games on Windows, but is sometimes overlooked in games we see.)
- Game builds must not contain any files that require privilege elevation. Standard, non-admin users must be able to run the game build.
- If you need information written to the registry, please provide a .reg file with the necessary settings. Make sure that you are only writing values to HKEY_CURRENT_USER (HKCU). This particular Windows registry hive stores configuration information for the current user, and thus writing to it does not require privilege elevation.
- Note: If you have previously onboarded to FGWP with any SDKs using Twitch APIs, please make sure that the build you are submitting does not include these SDKs. They have been deprecated.
