Step 1: Create a Virtual Product

In this step, you create an Alexa Connect Kit (ACK) virtual product in the ACK developer console. You can have only one virtual product, and you can't delete virtual products. If you would like to work with multiple virtual products simultaneously, create an additional Amazon developer account.

You need an Amazon developer account to access the ACK developer console.

Create a new virtual product

To create a new virtual product

  1. Open the ACK developer console and log in.
  2. Open the Products page.

  3. Click Create Product.
  4. Fill out the Product name, Description, and Manufacturer name with the appropriate information for your product.
  5. For Display Category, choose the appropriate product you are developing.

    To complete this tutorial end-to-end exactly as-is, choose LIGHT.

  6. For Region support, choose the region you are releasing your product in – Region 1 (BR, CA, MX, US), Region 2 (DE, ES, FR, IN, IT, UK), or Region 3 (AU, JP).

    You can also add another supported region after you create your virtual product.

  7. For Do you intend to distribute this product commercially, select the appropriate choice for your product.
  8. For Is this a children's product or is otherwise directed to children younger than 13 years old?, select the appropriate choice for your product.
  9. Click the Create Product button.

    While your product is creating, a banner appears on your products page in the ACK developer console. To see if your virtual product is ready, manually refresh the page.

    When your virtual product is ready, a Success message appears in the banner.
