Certify ACK-based Matter Devices
Before you manufacture your Alexa Connect Kit (ACK)-based Matter devices, you must certify your device with the Frustration-Free Setup (FFS) and Works with Alexa (WWA) Amazon programs and the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) Matter certification program. Passing certification before you mass produce your devices can help you avoid downstream issues due to unexpected certification failures. For example, some certification failures might require software or hardware changes.
Prerequisites
To certify your ACK-based Matter device, you must have the following items:
- Amazon developer account – When you submit your device for certification, use the same developer account associated with your ACK virtual product.
- Matter Product ID and Vendor ID – To get these IDs, contact the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA). Then, register your Product ID and Vendor ID in the CSA Distributed Compliance Ledger (DCL).
- Product description – Your product description must include your device model and your brand name or manufacturer name.
- Design Validation Test (DVT) samples – A minimum of three DVT sample devices that use production-ready firmware. These sample devices should operate with full device functionality. The samples should be as close as possible to the final product, but don't have to be final production units.
- Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN) – A retail ASIN for your device. For more details about product ASINs, see Works with Alexa Badge Requirements and ASIN Configuration for FFS.
- Device QR code – A generated Matter QR code (device barcode) that's ready for testing.
- Product packaging – Production-packaging or appropriate physical production-packaging proofs with FFS-ready barcodes. You must include this packaging with your device when you ship it to your device tester. You can provide a physical or digital copy. For more details about FFS-ready barcodes, see Provisionee Barcode Specification.
- Instructions and documentation – Detailed instructions on how to use your product, such as a user guide. Include these instructions with your product when you ship it to your device tester. You can provide either a physical or digital copy.
Prepare for certification
To prepare your device for FFS and WWA certifications, complete a series of device tests. The certification team uses the results of these tests to facilitate the certification process. Make sure your answers are accurate and detailed to avoid delay in the certification process.
DeviceType, you only have to test a single device.Self-test your devices for FFS
Before you submit your devices for FFS certification, complete the FFS test plans for Matter Simple Set up (MSS) for Wi-Fi and BLE. To view and download the MSS test plan, see FFS Certification Steps.
Try to follow the test plans exactly as written. If you make any changes to the steps, document your test procedures changes and the new corresponding steps to follow. After you complete testing, send the document and the test results to your ACK support engineer for review
Self-test your devices for WWA
Before you submit your devices for WWA certification, complete the corresponding WWA test plan for your device type. To view and download the test plans for your device, see Review WWA test plans.
Try to follow the test plans exactly as written. If you make any changes to the steps, document your test procedures changes and the new corresponding steps to follow. After you complete testing, send the document and the test results to your ACK support engineer for review.
