Sandbox Testing
The Amazon Data Portability API Sandbox allows you to test API integration in your production environment whilst you complete your Security Onboarding Review (SOR). The Sandbox enables parallel development and security assessment, significantly reducing your time-to-market following completion of your SOR.
Eligibility:
- Pass Identity Verification
- Pass the Business Offering & Privacy Review
- Requesting access to Category 2 or Category 3 data scopes
Sandbox Capabilities & Limitations:
- Access restricted to maximum 5 Amazon accounts that you own or control
- All API functionality operates identically to production
- Standard rate limits apply
Requesting Sandbox Access:
- Use the Contact Us form in the Amazon Developer workspace.

- Select "Amazon Data Portability" category.
- Select "Allowlisting & Integration Updates" topic.
- In your message, include:
- Request for sandbox access
- Up to 5 customer IDs for testing
- Data categories you need to test (Category 2 and/or Category 3)
SLA: You'll receive sandbox access within 3 business days.
How to get the corresponding customer IDs of your Amazon customer accounts:
- Log into your Amazon account.
- Open your browser's developer tools (right-click → Inspect).
- Go to the Console tab.
- Type
opts.customerIdand press Enter. - Your customer ID will be displayed.

Testing Your Integration:
Once approved, you can:
- Initiate consent authorization flow for your test customer IDs
- Test the complete data portability workflow including consent management
- Retrieve and validate data from your allowlisted test accounts
- Verify that available data scopes support your business requirements
Promotion to Production:
After completing your SOR:
- Use the Contact Us form in the Amazon Developer workspace.
- Select "Amazon Data Portability" category and "Allowlisting & Integration Updates" topic.
- Request promotion from Sandbox to production access.
- Your customer ID restrictions will be removed, enabling full production access.
Best Practices:
- Test all data scopes you plan to request in production
- Validate error handling and edge cases
- Document any issues encountered during Sandbox testing
