The Linear TV Integration on Fire TV is divided into these primary areas: Electronic Programming Guide (EPG) ingestion, and Channel Tuning/Video Playback. The following links and explanations will help you understand the technical requirements specific to Fire TV.
Prerequisites
- You are allowlisted for Live TV. Reach out to your Amazon contact to be allowlisted.
- Access to the source code of your app for Fire TV.
- A Fire TV device that supports this integration. Check with your Amazon contact for a list of device types currently supported.
- Although not mandatory, we prefer your catalog to be integrated with a cloud service such as Amazon Catalog Service or Gracenote. Check with your Amazon contact for help onboarding onto these services.
Integration Overview
Linear TV requires the following integrations:
- Provider Logo integration. Reach out to your Amazon contact and provide them with your Logo. Logo badging is displayed in the top-right corner when focused on a channel tile in Search, On Now, Guide, or provider rows. The image file must be monochrome, up to 34px high, and a maximum width of 25% of the overlaying image with a horizontal orientation.
- Vega Electronic Programming Guide (EPG) integration, which provides the customer's channel entitlements and metadata, and enables browse and search to function on Fire TV.
- Vega Channel Integration, so customers can launch content using a remote or voice.
- A Sync Sources Screen for customers to force a sync of channel entitlements and metadata.
