Manage API Access


The following features are eligible for self-service allowlisting from the Administration section of the Alexa Smart Properties management console.

Alexa Smart Properties REST APIs

To use the Alexa Smart Properties REST APIs, you must create a Login with Amazon (LWA) security profile by using the same Amazon Business account that you registered with Alexa Smart Properties. Finally, you must register your LWA security profile with Alexa Smart Properties and use the security profile to generate an API access token.

To register your LWA security profile

  1. Navigate to the Administration section of the Alexa Smart Properties console.
  2. In the Alexa Management API Clients section, select Grant API Access.
  3. Enter your LWA Client ID and select Submit.

Alexa Skill Features: Persistent unit IDs, Name-Free Interaction Availability

Enable Alexa skill features such as Persistent unit IDs and Name-Free Interaction availability from a single enablement process using the following steps:

  1. To find your Vendor ID, log in to your Amazon account and then go to Customer Details.
  2. Navigate to the Administration section of the Alexa Smart Properties console.
  3. In the Skill Tools Vendors section, select Enable Skill Tools.
  4. Enter your Vendor ID and select Submit.

Enable and use persistent unit IDs

Enable Persistent Unit ID in the developer console as follows by using the following steps:

  1. Log in to the Alexa developer console and navigate to your skill.
  2. Select the Build tab.
  3. On the left, click TOOLS, and then click Permissions.
  4. Turn on Persistent Unit ID.
  5. Save and build the skill.
