Alexa Smart Properties for hospitality defines the following key concepts and terms:

Endpoint

An endpoint represents an Alexa-connected device (like an Echo device) with which an Alexa customer can interact. In Alexa Smart Properties for hospitality, you manage endpoints by using the Endpoint API. With this API, you can enumerate the endpoints owned by an Amazon Business account, view and change endpoint settings, associate endpoints with specific rooms, and query connectivity status of endpoints.

Unit

A unit represents a node in a hierarchy. A unit can be an organization, a property, a room type, or a room. In Alexa Smart Properties for hospitality, you create a hierarchy of units to model properties, room types, and individual rooms by using the Property, Room Type, and Room API.

Room

A room represents a physical room in a property. Alexa devices and smart home appliances are installed in a room. Alexa endpoints (devices) and skills are associated with individual rooms.

Room type

A room type is a collection of similar rooms in a property. For example, room types in a hotel might include VIP rooms, ocean-facing rooms, and king suites. This model enables Alexa Smart Properties for hospitality to be extensible and accommodate different types of rooms.

Property

A property represents a physical property, such as a hotel, vacation rental, or senior living community. A property is typically a collection of room types, which in turn are collections of rooms.

Organization

An organization represents a business entity under the Amazon Business account that's registered with Alexa Smart Properties for hospitality.
