Understanding Live App Testing for Vega

With Amazon's Live App Testing (LAT) service, you can distribute an app that you intend to publish to the Amazon Appstore to a pre-defined set of testers before going live. You can distribute both APK and VPKG binary types within your current live app tests. The testers can sample the full suite of Amazon services against Amazon's production environment, to make sure your app is working as expected. Examples of features you can test include the following APIs and services:

  • In-App Purchasing (IAP)
  • Facebook integration and connectivity
  • Amazon Device Messaging

Before you publish your app, you can use LAT to gather feedback, improve quality, increase stability, and optimize the experience . Your test results show you exactly what your customers would see if the app were live in the Amazon Appstore.

Pre-submission testing workflow

Use the following process to submit an app to LAT:

See the following steps.
LAT Workflow
  1. Submit the APK and VPKG for your app to LAT.
  2. Have your group of testers test your app using LAT:
    1. Add your testers to tester groups.
    2. Testers in each tester group download and test your APK and VPKG.
  3. Evaluate your tester feedback.

  4. Based on the test results and feedback, make any changes to your app. Test the changes by creating a new live app test.

  5. When you are satisfied with your testing results for one binary type, you can unassign that tester group from the live app test and continue testing on the other binary type. To publish the app on the Appstore, you can upload the binary using the app submission workflow.
