Every day, customers are turning to Alexa+ to make daily life easier and get things done. They are engaging with Alexa 2–3X more, across a broader range of topics to complete a broader set of tasks. Those interactions range from setting up Routines and searching for information to controlling smart home devices and booking services. Brands that build with Alexa+ become part of a connected experience, surfaced naturally in the moments when customers need them. Tell Alexa you need to find a spot for dinner and it can recommend nearby restaurants on OpenTable; or when you ask about an issue with your washer, Alexa suggests finding a service provider on Thumbtack.
Alexa already works with tens of thousands of devices and services customers use daily — making personalized recommendations based on their preferences. Today, we are introducing new ways for device makers and service providers to build more deeply connected Alexa+ experiences, quickly.
With Alexa+, customers are controlling their smart homes more than ever before. Customers who upgrade to Alexa+ increase their smart home engagement by nearly 50% in the first month. They’re also setting 2X more Routines to automate their homes and connecting more existing devices.
Today, we are expanding what’s possible by giving device makers new ways to bring their full range of features to Alexa+, so customers can get more out of every device without navigating complex settings themselves.
Our new AI-powered smart home developer toolkit makes it easy for device makers to connect to Alexa+, including those with unique capabilities that weren't supported before.
“We believe managing a smart home should be as easy as the convenience it provides. We are excited to use the new smart home toolkit to expand our smart home device integrations with Alexa+. Customers will be able to access more functionalities and control a wide range of capabilities by simply asking Alexa+”, said Frank Zhu, Senior Vice President of Anker Innovations & Eufy CEO.
With the new integration, customers will only need to describe what they want, and Alexa will map the request to the right device and feature. For example, customers with an integrated washing machine can say, “Alexa, my kid’s soccer jersey could use a deep clean, but the tag says cold wash only.” Alexa+ can navigate the 30 cycle options on their premium washer and select the right feature for the customer: cold-water enzyme activation cycle with extra rinse and low spin.
Alexa can also learn customer preferences and suggest Routines that get more out of their devices — like brewing your favorite coffee the moment your morning alarm goes off.
The first brands to bring smart home devices to Alexa+ using the AI-powered smart home developer toolkit include Bosch, Delta, Ecovacs, SONOFF, Govee, iRobot, Moen Flo, PetSafe, Pila Energy, Twinkly, Yale Home, Whirlpool, TP-Link Systems Inc.’s Tapo, and Eufy under Anker Innovations.
We are adopting the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to make it easier for service providers across categories to integrate and reach customers with Alexa+. Using Alexa+ for Builders, brands can bring their own MCP server and carry over their tools to Alexa+. Alexa+ for Builders inspects the MCP server, proposes an integration path, and delivers a simulator-ready package for developers to build experiences with Alexa faster.
"By bringing Priceline’s hotel inventory and personalized recommendations to Alexa+, we’re giving travelers a simple way to discover and book the right stay through conversation. Customers can explore hotel options, get recommendations based on their needs, and book directly with Alexa+”, Cobus Kok, VP of AI Experiences at Priceline.
Canva, Cengage, Crystal Dynamics, Headspace, Priceline, Viator, Virgin Atlantic, Weekend, Lyft, and Brightline, FlixBus, and Greyhound via Distribusion will be the first brands to start building experiences using MCP later this year.
Customers come to Alexa to get things done. From initial discovery to final booking, they are engaging with services integrated with Alexa+ 6X more. They use it to purchase event tickets, complete restaurant reservations, and book services without ever leaving the conversation. Using Amazon Wallet, customers now have the option to check out seamlessly using the payment method already saved in their Amazon account.
Rooted in Amazon's proven safe and secure payments infrastructure, Amazon Wallet gives brands a way to offer every customer a consistent, frictionless checkout option without the need to build a specific payment infrastructure for Alexa. Amazon Wallet will be available for brands integrating with Alexa+ using our MCP toolkit and Category SDKs.
“We're building new experiences for our customers to discover and purchase tickets at the moment they are making plans. Alexa+ will recommend the latest movies and shows, help them pick their preferred showtime and seats, and complete the ticket purchase when they are ready — all via voice”, Archith Rapaka, CTO of Atom Tickets.
Atom Tickets, Cengage, Fandango, Priceline, and Taskrabbit plan to build task completion experiences with Amazon Wallet this year.
Giving customers connected experiences across the services and devices they love has always been core to our vision. We are excited to see brands engaging with customers and creating deeply personalized and connected experiences with Alexa+.
