React Native for Vega ported libraries
The following tables list the libraries that are currently supported by React Native for Vega as part of the@amazon-devices namespace. For installation and usage information, follow the link for each library.
Select the tab for your React Native version. Each table has two version columns:
- Package — the
@amazon-devicesNPM package version to install. - Upstream version — the public release that the Vega package is ported from. Use it to check upstream release notes and API documentation for the features available in your app. A dash (—) means no upstream version is published for that combination.
React Native community libraries
- RN 0.83
- RN 0.72
Expo libraries
- RN 0.83
- RN 0.72
System distributed libraries
The following libraries are released as system-distributed libraries.- RN 0.83
- RN 0.72
react-linear-gradient is no longer listed. For gradients, use the built-in experimental_backgroundImage style prop on a View. See Replace LinearGradient with the backgroundImage style prop.
On RN 0.83, shopify__flash-list wraps the public FlashList release rather than a Vega-ported version, so there’s no separate upstream version to track.
Additional libraries
To assist with porting your existing apps to Vega, Amazon has tested some of the most widely used JavaScript libraries for compatibility. These are pure JavaScript libraries that work with both RN 0.72 and RN 0.83. To use these libraries, use the standard library documentation.
react-native-url-polyfill exceptions
The Polyfill Blob functionality is not working properly in the Vega app due to an upstream issue in the library. Alternatively, you can use
URL.CreateObjectURL functionality to allow URL creation from blob through createObjectURL(blob).
Also, please note that in case you are using both react-native-url-polyfill and URL.CreateObjectURL, you have to add following in your code to make it work.
