Interface IDial

interface IDial
Extends com.amazon.apmf.IStandard Interface to query DIAL discovery information. DIAL (DIscovery And Launch) is the second-screen protocol used to discover and launch apps on a device over the local network. This interface exposes read access to the device’s DIAL discovery identity.

Methods

getUuid()

string getUuid()
Get the DIAL discovery UUID for this device. This is the stable identifier the DIAL service advertises over SSDP (in the USN header and the device description <UDN>). A second-screen app can use it to recognize that a device discovered over SSDP and one discovered through its own cloud are the same physical device. This does not require a privilege. Access is instead restricted to an allowlist of applications, enforced by the DIAL service; callers that are not allowlisted receive SecurityError.

Returns

string the DIAL discovery UUID as a lowercase RFC 4122 UUIDv4 string (the canonical 8-4-4-4-12 dashed form, 36 characters).

Throws

  • NotSupportedError — if the device does not run the DIAL service, or the UUID has not yet been provisioned.
  • SecurityError — if the calling application is not on the allowlist.
