We are in the process of revamping the app submission experience on our developer portal. Part one of the revamp was focused on improving the multimedia assets upload experience and how you add app descriptions. Now, we are improving the availability and pricing section during app submission.
The primary usability complaint we’ve received in the availability and pricing section was about setting the future release date (FRD). In the old experience, there was option to select only the date, and the time and time zone were defaulted to 12am Pacific Standard Time (PST).
We heard you - this new experience includes the following features:
- Date, time, and time zone selection in FRD: You can now select time and time zone in addition to date to better control the availability of your app on the Amazon Appstore. We will default the time zone to the local time from where you are logged in while submitting an app. Once the date, time, and time zone are selected, your app will be available to consumers within a couple of hours from the selected FRD. There is still the option to leave FRD blank if you would like Amazon to make your app available on our catalog as soon as our publishing process is complete.
- UI refresh: We have made it easier to select and deselect the set of countries where you want your app to be available. Check out the refreshed UI with improved tool tips, microcopy, and style guides.
You can find detailed documentation on these new features here.
We hope you enjoy these new improvements. This upgrade will be slowly rolling out to user accounts over the next few weeks. Please keep an eye out for this refresh and share your feedback on how you like it through our support team. We look forward to hearing your feedback. We will continuously improve the app submission experience throughout 2018.
