With an increasing amount of technology added to the modern home every year, we need a system—or glue—that connects all these devices and orchestrates their programmed use day-in and day-out. At Amazon, we believe that conversational AI will fundamentally improve the way we interact with technology all around us, in the home and everywhere in-between.
To demonstrate how a voice-forward interface like Amazon Alexa enables frictionless, hands-free control over everything in the home, from the lock on the front door and lights in the hallway to advanced scenes for movie nights and cozy mornings, we’ve collaborated with Intel to showcase a Smart Tiny Home with Alexa at CES.
The Smart Tiny Home packs a full kitchen, living area, bedroom, office, and bathroom into a 210-square foot space built by Minim homes. However, this is no ordinary Tiny Home—this house also features the latest smart home technology from Intel, Amazon, MiOS, and BMW, allowing you to control almost every aspect and device just by using your voice.
Visitors will experience several demonstrations of how anyone can build a voice-controlled smart home with products on the market today. Tour guides will walk attendees through several scenarios in which Alexa enables control over smart home products. The simpler examples demonstrate how Alexa can turn on the light or several lights with products like Philips Hue. The more sophisticated configurations coordinate multiple technologies to prepare the home for certain activities, such as movie nights and morning routines. Attendees will also be able to see how BMW owners can ask Alexa for information about their car.
CES attendees are encouraged to take a free tour of the Smart Tiny Home by Intel and Amazon. The home is located at the Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel, and runs from Thursday, January 5th to Sunday, January 8th.
