We believe voice is the next major disruption in computing. That's why we enable anyone to design and build voice experiences for Alexa, the voice service that powers devices like the Amazon Echo, with the Alexa Skills Kit. To that end, we’re excited to announce a new beginner course by Treehouse. The “Build an Alexa Skill” course will help guide both developers and non-developers alike through the skill-building process.
In this new course, you'll learn how to build your own Alexa skill. You'll create an interactive dictionary of technical terms for Alexa. Through this hands-free experience, you'll be able to ask Alexa a question about technical terms and have Alexa respond with a definition.
The course uses the Alexa Skills Kit SDK for Node.js, but you don't need any programming experience. The Treehouse instructor will teach you all you need to know. By the end of this course, you'll be ready to submit your custom skill for certification. Once certified, your skill will be published in the Alexa app for anyone to use with Alexa-enabled devices.
Treehouse also offers a seven-day free trial to its course library. Explore thousands of hours of training, including this new Alexa course.

Build a Skill, Get a Shirt
The Alexa Skills Kit (ASK) enables developers to build capabilities, called skills, for Alexa. ASK is a collection of self-service APIs, documentation, templates, and code samples that make it fast and easy for anyone to add skills to Alexa.
Developers have built more than 10,000 skills with ASK. Explore the stories behind some of these innovations, then start building your own skill. Once you publish your skill, mark the occasion with a free, limited-edition Alexa dev shirt. Quantities are limited.
