Back in April, we launched the skill metrics dashboard to help you better understand customer behavior and build more engaging voice experiences. Today we’re excited to share that this feature now includes usage information about your smart home skills and flash briefings. You can use this dashboard to analyze several key engagement metrics such as total unique customers, and total plays for flash briefings skills, and actions over time for smart home skills. For all skill types, there are also new data points, visualizations, and download capabilities. The dashboard gives you the ability to track your customer’s engagement as you make improvements or release updates for your skills.
Each of your skills has a metrics dashboard. To see it, sign in to the developer portal, then choose “Alexa” and “Alexa Skills Kit.” You’ll see all of your skills on this page. To the right of each skill, you’ll see an option to launch the metrics dashboard. Choose one to explore the data and uncover insights.
Get a view of your skill and feed performance. You can see a breakdown of customers and plays by feed. With this view of customer-engagement trends, you can find out how many customers are using your skill.
See a breakdown of usage trends in your smart home skill including the number of customers, peak usage time, and utterance distribution by action. Start with this look at your customer-engagement pattern, then dive into the following tabs for deeper insights.
To keep your customers engaged and returning, it’s important to understand how they respond to changes like seasonality and skill updates. Visit the Customers tab to see how many people are interacting with your skill during a specified time interval.
Your utterances are a key part of delivering a polished voice experience. Use the Utterances tab to explore metrics like the total number of utterances and the average number of utterances per customer. Using the chart interval filter, you can see the volume of requests made to your skill as well as the average number of utterances made per customer over time.
To get a holistic view of your customer’s experience, it’s important to know which of your skill's features are getting the most use. The Actions tab breaks down your smart home skill’s utterance distribution so you can see which intents are getting the highest volume of requests. This information can help you prioritize features as you look to improve your skill's level of engagement.
The skill metrics dashboard now allows you to toggle between grid and chart views as well as download images or a .csv formatted file for expanded analysis and sharing.
Using the skill metrics dashboard, you’ll be able to better undertand you customer behavior and engagement. Using this, we hope that you’ll have the information you need to continuously improve and build more engaging experiences.
