Video content service providers and their consumers recognize the compelling and natural use cases for voice interaction with the set-top box. Today, we are introducing qualified solutions for set-top boxes (STBs) with Alexa built-in from AVS Systems Integrators (SIs) ARRIS, Cisco Infinite Video Platform, DiscVision, and Technicolor. 

The first solutions for the STB category, from four new AVS Systems Integrators, enable device makers to leverage more complete designs that are already pre-integrated with the Alexa Voice Service:

• ARRIS supports service providers in enabling Alexa built-in solutions. As part its residential portfolio, ARRIS’ STBs, Wi-Fi extenders, and IoT solutions represent existing platforms for integrating Alexa to fulfill the consumer demand for smart voice service, connected home, and advanced IoT technologies.
• Cisco Infinite Video Platform (IVP) is a cloud service for Pay-TV operators to secure, distribute, and monetize premium video experiences on all devices. IVP enables new IP, Hybrid IP, and Over-the-Top services with multi-screen experiences. Cisco IVP’s cloud delivery makes it easy to keep subscribers up to date with the latest Alexa innovations.
• DiscVision enables integration of Alexa into visual devices including TVs, STBs, and media players. DiscVision’s SDK is designed to reduce Alexa integration time and cost. It can be combined with DiscVision’s pre-compiled AVS library for target platforms, client systems, and white-labeled skills.
• Technicolor's latest generation of set-top-boxes have Alexa built-in, enabling network service provider customers to meet consumer demand for a smarter home environment. The set-top box now becomes a hub delivering new features and capabilities that can be monetized by operators by leveraging the same infrastructure used to deliver entertainment experiences.
