As previously announced to US and UK developers, we are very happy to announce that tunable lighting control is now available in Germany and fully supports German. Tunable lighting control, a feature in the Smart Home Skill API, makes it natural for users to set the perfect mood by supporting voice commands such as "Alexa, set the bedroom light to warm white" and "Alexa, make the living room pink." Or, if users prefer German: "Alexa, schalte Schlafzimmerlicht auf warmes Weiß" and "Alexa, setze Wohnzimmerlicht auf Rosa."
Tunable lighting control supports:
- Adjusting the color temperature of white light: users can set it by name ("warm white", "cool white", "soft white", "daylight" – in German: “Warmes Weiß”, “Kaltes Weiß”, “Weiches Weiß”, “Tageslicht”). Details can be found in the SetColorTemperatureRequest section of our API reference documentation. We also support increasing or decreasing the color temperature from the current Kelvin value through the IncrementColorTemperatureRequest and DecrementColorTemperatureRequest directives.
- Setting the color of a compatible light: when a user says "Alexa, set the bedroom light to blue", (in German: “Alexa, schalte Schlafzimmerlicht auf Blau”) the request payload will include a color object made up of Hue, Saturation and Brightness (HSB) allowing your skill to adjust the light accordingly. If the target device requires Red, Green, Blue (RGB) settings, convert the HSB values in your skill adapter (search the web for HSB-to-RGB conversion).
This feature is supported today with lights from Hue, LIFX, and TP-Link with additional German brands like OSRAM LIGHTIFY coming soon.
