We are happy to announce a new Amazon Alexa Skills contest with DevPost, the developer-focused job search and hackathon company. We are challenging developers and designers to create unique new skills that make Alexa smarter. To compete for over $40,000 in prizes, you will need to create an original Alexa skill. This is our most open-ended challenge yet. Will you turn Alexa into a concierge, sous chef, fitness coach, personal shopper, or DJ? You decide. The challenge starts now – sign up!
Alexa skill entries will be judged on three criteria:
- Quality of Idea – The more creative, refreshing, and innovative, the better! All ideas must be original.
- Implementation of the Idea – How well is the skill executed? Consideration will be given to how well Voice User Interface (VUI) best practices are used.
- Potential Value – How useful and/or valuable is the skill to Alexa users?
Need some inspiration? Every time you add a new Skill, Alexa gets smarter. Alexa Skills enable voice-activated interactions that let you crank up Bon Iver, order flowers, turn on your dishwasher, cool down with your A/C, or geek out on Star Trek, all without lifting a pinkie. Check out past winners at Hey Alexa!, Amazon Alexa API Mashup, or the Internet of Voice Challenge. You’re free to use any API or idea you like (as long as you have the proper permission to do so). Find your area of interest, and build your Alexa skill to create a new voice experience.
Once you’re armed with an idea, sign up for the challenge at Alexa.Devpost.com.
