Today we opened the application period for the Alexa Prize Socialbot Grand Challenge 3. As we head into our third year of the competition, we are excited to see what new innovations teams will implement to address this exciting AI challenge.

Applications Accepted through 11:59 PM PT on Tuesday, May 14, 2019

Alexa Prize is different from other challenges in many ways, for example:

• University students receive feedback on their interactions from a broad base of engaged users of a realworld AI technology. During the 2018 competition, Alexa customers held over 60,000 hours of conversations with Alexa Prize socialbots spanning millions of interactions. More information is available on our website.
• Participating Alexa Prize teams are provided training, support, and access to the full suite of AWS services.

Here are some other things to note:

• All 10 teams chosen for the Alexa Prize Socialbot Grand Challenge 3 will receive a sponsorship of $250K to build their conversational bots. Funding includes support for two fulltime students and one month of faculty time.
• Teams retain ownership of their socialbots and associated IP, and are encouraged to publish their research. Amazon will have non-exclusive rights as described in the Alexa Prize Socialbot Grand Challenge 3 Official Rules.
