We’ve grown accustomed to TV experiences where content is organized, scheduled, and presented to us in a pre-fixe menu. It’s the same shows at the same time every week, and that was OK when there were only a few channels to pick from. Today there’s an endless number of shows, channels, live and on-demand movies available at our fingertips, making it increasingly difficult to find our favorites and discover new content.
If you’re a Dish Network subscriber, or you’re thinking about becoming one, finding the perfect show or movie to fit your mood just got a lot easier with Alexa voice control. We’re excited to announce that Dish Network subscribers can now voice control their TV experience with the Hopper DVR set-top box and Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, or Echo Show—no remote required. Subscribers can change the channel, search content by actor, genre, and more. Just ask.

How the technology works
Dish announced at CES 2017 that its customers would soon be able to watch hands-free, voice-controlled TV by enabling a new Alexa skill on any device with Alexa. Meaning, you can change the channel, search for a specific show, and more, using an Echo device. Get started by enabling the Dish Network Alexa skill in your Amazon Alexa App.
Dish is the first TV provider to announce direct compatibility with Alexa.
Amazon provides developers with hardware and software tools that make it easier to build magical voice experiences for customers. Alexa, comprised of two powerful developer frameworks, enables device makers and skill builders to reach new customers across the Echo Family of Devices and all AVS-enabled products.
