Ever wondered how to create a game with no coding experience? Whether to build a native app or a web app? What monetization model to choose for your business? Dev Chat – Short Answers to Big Questions, is a new video series created by Amazon Appstore in which successful apps and games developers answer your questions in under 90 seconds.
In this edition, Rosie Linder, CEO and Co-Founder of Stockholm-based Peppy Pals, shares her journey from being a mom of two girls with no coding experience to the CEO of an award-winning gaming studio.
Named one of the top 3 hottest start-ups in 2014 in Sweden by Internet World, and winner of the people’s choice award “Entrepreneur of the future by Svenska Dagbladet, Peppy Pals gamifies emotional intelligence, in that it teaches children that it’s ok to experience emotions without being judged. Developed in collaboration with experts as well as a leading children’s psychologist, Peppy Pals encourages children to socialize by focusing on a group of animal friends that players can interact with and help out in various situations with social skills like emotions, empathy and friendship.
Being part of an incubator and co-working space helped to reach new customers globally, Rosie emphasizes. Here she met Amazon representatives, who believed in the quality of the game and featured Peppy Pals in the US, UK and Germany. In fact, explaining their success outside of Sweden, Rosie points out that “the most global success was that we got a huge company like Amazon to believe in our innovation. After the promotion, the feedback from parents was so great that Amazon considered featuring us again.”
Check out all Peppy Pals videos, in which Rosie and her team explain what to do when you can’t code but want to build a game, how to receive funding for your project, and how to make sure that your target customers will like your game.
