What makes services like Alexa magical and new is a combination of smarter software and innovative hardware design. Cloud-based software ensures that Alexa is always getting smarter, while hardware enables Alexa to hear us in real-world environments like a noisy room.
Today we’re excited to announce that Conexant has released a generally available 4-microphone development kit, making it easier and more cost-effective to build far-field products with Amazon Alexa. Far-field voice recognition enables customers to speak to devices with Alexa from across the room. This development kit reduces audio front end design complexity and makes it possible for device makers to create magical far-field voice experiences for their customers.
The Conexant AudioSmart™ 4-Mic Development Kit for Amazon AVS includes new Smart Source Locator (SSL) technology that identifies the direction of the customer’s voice and provides 360-degree noise suppression, which delivers a higher speech recognition accuracy. The commercial-grade voice solution features Conexant’s AudioSmart™ CX2094 Voice Processor, which runs echo cancellation audio algorithms that enable voice barge-in even when the device is playing loud music.
OEMs can purchase the Conexant 4-Mic dev kit to prototype on a Raspberry Pi using the AVS sample app. Conexant also provides a path to commercialization and can support large volume applications with a competitive bill of material cost.
