Since the introduction of Amazon Alexa, customers have been delighted that the technology enables them to play music, hear weather reports, control smart home products, and more all without lifting a finger. The Alexa Voice Service (AVS) team works with leading audio technology providers to bring resources and tools to developers who can usher in the next generation of hands-free, voice-powered products.
Today, we’re excited to announce that Microsemi, a semiconductor solutions provider, has released a 2-microphone hands-free audio front end (AFE) solution as part of the expanding Development Kits for AVS offering. The Microsemi AcuEdge™ Development Kit for Amazon AVS enables you to design high-quality voice recognition interfaces for your Alexa-enabled products, while also reducing engineering time and cost.
The kit features audio enhancements for both noise reduction and barge-in processing. Noise reduction allows speech recognition in loud, real-world conditions. Barge-in enables users to interrupt their Alexa-enabled device when it’s playing audio. The development kit supports a 2-microphone configuration for both 180-degree and 360-degree audio pick-up. Developers can get started quickly by prototyping with the AVS sample app for Raspberry Pi.
The Microsemi AcuEdge™ Development Kit for Amazon AVS is generally available to all developers looking for a way to build products with Alexa.
